We will be exploring rhythms from the world of hand drumming, with an emphasis on African, and Latin styles and instruments. We keep to the basics, and cover technique on various instruments, including the African Djembe.
No experience is necessary. All are welcome to start exploring rhythms with the skills and background they have.
This is not competition. It is about creating rhythms and enjoying grooves as a group. The facilitation is focused on introducing rhythms, aurally, and organizing our group so that the total of what we create together becomes greater than the sum of the parts.
The model for our drum circle is based on the world-wide tradition of open, free-flowing group improvisation that is found nearly everywhere, and is common to all cultures... Most importantly, we are drumming together, and listening together, and enjoying the group energy we share.
No need to register, just show up/drop in, between 5:30-7pm
